Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Researcher, Strategist, Consultant, Educator

Dr. Chrissann Ruehle is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) researcher and consultant. She is also a Management Instructor II in the Lutgert College of Business at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) and teaches courses in Organizational Theory and Change, Management Principles, Business Strategy, and Business Ethics. Prior to her appointment at FGCU in 2017, she taught Digital Marketing and Management courses at Sinclair College and the University of Dayton in Ohio. She has been a higher education faculty member for 13 years and worked in industry for 19 years in a variety of management, consulting, and marketing leadership positions in technology, healthcare, and manufacturing industries.

Dr. Ruehle holds a Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) from the University of South Florida, an M.B.A. in Applied Management from Indiana Wesleyan University in Ohio, Project Management certification from Xavier University in Ohio, and a B.S. in Business with a Marketing Concentration from Miami University of Ohio. Her doctoral dissertation titled, “Understanding the Complex Ethical Landscape of Artificial Intelligence Adoptions” explores forces shaping the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Industry, a case study of a firm that developed a proprietary AI system to bolster the firm’s expansion, and a grounded theory study on AI adoption comprised of technology expert interviews. Her research has been published in the Muma Business Review of the Informing Science Institute, the Accounting and Taxation Journal, and various conference proceedings from premier conferences such as the Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, Decision Sciences Institute, Production and Operations Management Society, and Marketing Educator’s Association. She has developed a very active research pipeline and currently has five (5) articles undergoing review at top tier academic journals.

Dr. Ruehle completed the IBM Artificial Intelligence Practitioner-Instructor Certification through the IBM Skills Academy. She facilitated FGCU’s first Artificial Intelligence certification course during the Fall 2021 and is currently planning another offering during the Fall 2023 semester. Her research focuses on AI ethics and governance practices, generative AI (ChatGPT, Bard), chatbots and virtual agents, and AI in healthcare.
